SQAS Distributor / ESAD II

The SQAS Distributer/ESAD-II is an assessment system for distributors of chemical products. The SQAS Distributor package originatesfrom the ESAD questionnaire. The ESAD stands for European Single Assessment Document. This document has been developed from the Product Stewardship principles.

The aim of the SQAS Di/ESAD packages are the customers of the chemical companies; the distributers/traders/agents.

These distributers become owner of goods and are therefore customer of the chemical industry. For that reason Responsible Care requires that risks concerning products, impact on the supply chain and even products in the use phase and the waste stage are communicated. It must be made certain that the distributer has prepared himself sufficiently to be able treat the products safely. SQAS Distributer helps the chemical industry with this to obtain a good image and make improvement opportunites visible.

TheSQAS Distributer questionnaire exists of four modules:

  • SQAS Di (distributer): the general questionnaire always applicable
  • SQAS S (site): the specific questionnaire for the companies with own facilities. If no own facilities should be available, then it is expected of the distributer that he lets its logistical partner assessed against the SQAS Warehouse module.
  • SQAS Cs (Chlorinated solvents): For companies which occupy themselves with sale and handling of these particularly environmentally hazardous substances a separate questionnaire has been developed.
  • SQAS F (Food, Pharma and Cosmetics): Companies which occupy themselves in the Food, Pharma and Cosmetics industry know specific security requirements to guarantee product integrity. In this module attention to this is given explicitly.

The time spending for the assessment of these SQAS modules depends on the number of modules, the company activities and the company scope. The assessments vary in duration as from 1,5 day (for only the Di questionnaire at small companies without own facility).

The questionnaires can be downloaded from the web site of Ceifc: www.sqas.org.
